Babydoll Sewing Patterns by Simplicity

Babydoll tops are super hard to find in retail stores - but even harder to find sewing patterns for! While I figure out how to upload my personal sewing patterns, here are some you can make quickly and easily from a reputable manufacturer.

While most of these patterns come as dresses, adjusting the length is very easy - cut the bottom end of the pattern pieces for the skirt to your desired length and voila!

Slip & Camisole by Simplicity (S9285)

This top was actually my first ever sewing project! I think it is so chic and it has a certain vintage flair. I love the lace trim and it's definitely a great project for a beginner sewer. I was very lucky this pattern included a photo of a person wearing it! I actually find those a lot more helpful than illustrations (although they're very pretty).

Nightgown in Two Lengths by McCall's (M8535)

As mentioned in the introduction, this pattern is one for dresses, not tops, but it can still be altered to become a top. Or you can wear it as it was meant - a super cute babydoll dress! Whatever your heart desires. I really love the modesty panel and the ruching of the bust.

1970s Dress and Top by McCall's (M8258)

This pattern comes as both a dress and top - no altering needed! I love the ruching on the bust, the fluttery sleeves... everything about this is so precious! The illustrations are probably of my favorite of this whole post. Regardless, a kind user on Reddit shared a post detailing their experience sewing the pattern, which can be found here.

1970s Robe and Nightgown (M8430)

This 1970s nightgown can add a vintage touch to any closet! The ruffle details are to die for! I was unfortunately unable to find any photos of people wearing this pattern due to the number being shared with another pattern. However, the illustration is super cute!

1970s Jumpsuit by Vogue Patterns(V2041)

The gathers of this pattern are so cool! You would probably need to alter this jumpsuit into a dress or top, but gosh is the bodice so amazing! I unfortunately wasn't able to find any finished photos of this pattern.

Lace Trimmed Slip & Camisole by Vogue Patterns (V8888)

While this top is the last item on our list, to me it's the cutest! It also comes with patterns for a robe and underwear. The lace details make it feel so feminine and soft. While I haven't made this top just yet, it is definitely on the top of my wishlist. The packaging for this pattern includes a photo of someone wearing it!
